Quickstart

Start using Video & Recording in 5 minutes.
Follow this short guide to go from adding a camera to watching your first recording.


Prerequisites

  • Cordatus account and access to Web App or Client
  • A connected camera device (IP, USB, CSI, or GMSL)
  • (Optional) External drive if you plan to record long sessions
  • Sufficient storage and permissions for saving video files

Getting Started in 5 Minutes

1. Connect a Camera

  • Open Cordatus Web App → Cameras → + (Add Camera)
  • Choose camera type (Physical or IP)
  • Enter details (camera label, device, location) and click Save
  • For Client: launch Cordatus Client → Cameras → Add IP Camera

2. View Cameras on Map

  • Go to Map from the left menu
  • Find your camera marked with a green “C” icon
  • Click to open stream or select via Select Device → Show Cameras

3. Start Streaming

  • From the Cameras tab, click the camera and choose Select Target Device
  • Stream opens instantly — hover for stream info (FPS, bitrate, resolution)

4. Record a Stream

  • Click the ⋮ menu → Record
  • A red “REC” label appears on the stream window
  • To record multiple cameras: select several and choose Start Recording on Selected

5. Watch Recordings

  • Go to Record → Watch
  • Select a camera, choose a video, and click Play
  • Use timeline zoom, playback speed, or Master mode to sync multiple cameras

6. Automate with Schedule

  • Click ⋮ → Schedule next to a camera
  • Create a calendar, add recurring or one-time events
  • Define intervals (daily, weekly, monthly) and save

7. Add a New Drive (Optional)

  • Connect a new drive via Disks app (GUI) or mount it via CLI
  • Update the path in Device → Storage Info → Video Records

Expected Result

  • Cameras connected and visible on the Cameras or Map page
  • Live streams playable in the Web App or Client
  • Recordings listed under Record → List / Watch
  • Automated schedules handled by Cossa
  • Storage drive correctly mounted and accessible for recordings
