Camera Templates
Camera Templates allow you to save and instantly restore your camera viewing layout. Instead of opening cameras one by one every time, you can save your current arrangement as a template and load it with a single click whenever you need it.
This is especially useful when you frequently monitor the same set of cameras in a specific layout — for example, a security desk operator who views the same group of cameras every shift.
Key Benefits
- One-click access to your preferred camera layout
- Save multiple templates for different scenarios (e.g., day shift, night shift, perimeter check)
- Consistent layout across sessions — no need to rearrange cameras each time
- Quick switching between different camera groups
Saving a Template
While viewing your cameras in the Video Management area, you can save the current layout as a template:
- Arrange your cameras in the desired layout (drag, resize, add/remove cameras).
- Click the Template icon at the top right of the Video Management area.
- Select Save Template from the menu.
- Enter a descriptive name for your template (e.g., "Warehouse Day Shift", "Perimeter Check").
- Click Save to store the template.
Give your templates descriptive names that reflect their purpose. For example, "Lobby + Parking" is more useful than "Template 1".
Loading a Template
To quickly switch to a saved camera layout:
- Click the Template icon at the top right of the Video Management area.
- Select Load Template from the menu.
- Choose the template you want to load from the list.
- All currently open camera streams will be closed and replaced with the cameras from the selected template.
Loading a template will close all currently open camera streams. Make sure you don't have any unsaved work before switching templates.
Managing Templates
You can view, rename, and delete your saved templates:
Viewing All Templates
- Click the Template icon at the top right of the Video Management area.
- Select Manage Templates from the menu to see a list of all your saved templates.
Deleting a Template
- Open the Manage Templates menu.
- Click the Delete icon next to the template you want to remove.
- Confirm the deletion in the prompt.
Deleting a template only removes the saved layout — it does not affect any cameras or recordings.
Use Cases
| Scenario | Template Setup |
|---|---|
| Security Desk | Save a template with all entrance and exit cameras for daily monitoring |
| Shift Changes | Create separate templates for day and night shift camera groups |
| Incident Review | Save a template with cameras covering a specific area for quick access during investigations |
| Production Line | Set up a template with cameras focused on different stages of the production process |
| Multi-Site | Create templates for each location and switch between them easily |
Tips & Best Practices
- Create templates based on monitoring scenarios rather than individual cameras
- Keep the number of cameras per template reasonable (up to 25 for optimal performance)
- Use consistent naming conventions (e.g., "Location - Purpose")
- Update templates when camera configurations change
- If you frequently switch between camera groups, assign each group its own template
